Lao Tzu
Lao Tzu also known as Laozi or Lao Tsu, was reportedly born as early as
600 B.C. and said to have died as late as 200 B.C. Although many historians
placed his life in the 4th century BCE.
Laozi was said to be born in Ku Prefecture of the state of Chu, which is
known today as Lùyì County of Hénán province,
some people claim that Laozi was born in Guoyang County, Anhui Province.
Laozi is said to be the founder of Taoism.
The Tao Te Ching, in which Laozi wrote is said to be one of the most significant
treatises in Chinese philosophy.
